Software Update Issue with Mulitplus 12/3000/120, and Cerbo GX

Pertinent details:

Multiplus 12/3000/120, with firmware 2702158, connected to Victron LiFEPO4 Smart Batteries, via Lynx BMS and Distributor, and Cerbo GX with Touch 70. System seemed to work fine with old software, but updating seemed prudent.

Downloaded v2702498: Performed update using VE.Flash software via USB MK3 interface. Followed the steps in the procedure and as given by VE.Flash.

After the software update to the Multiplus (MP), the Cerbo no longer seemed to 'see ' the inverter. The unit shows up on the display, but the status says "Off". The device settings for the multiplus still showed v158 for the software (on the Cerbo). Redecting the multiplus settings seems to just stall; No response for over 10 minutes. Cycling power (AC/DC Off) on the inverter showed no change. Tried moving cables, swapping in a test cable for ve.bus. No change. Rebooting of the Cerbo caused the MP to drop off of the device list. Periodically, during the course of the troubleshoot, cyclilng power to the MP, the unit would not turn back on until disconnected from the ve.bus to the Cerbo. This issue was inconsistent, but worth mentioning. Reflashing with the update also had no effect.

Finally forced a software downgrade using VE.Flash to 2702159. After this the Multiplus showed up normally on the Cerbo and seems to be operating normally.

All of the specs and instructions indicate that the 2702xxx is the latest processor, and should be able to accept and run on Ver 498.

Is it possible that one can not upgrade from ver 15x directly to ver 498?

Dear

Unfortunately, the 100 models cannot be updated, but only the 400 firmware models can be updated.

That doesn't sound quite right. According to the VE.Bus firmware documentation (VE.Bus firmware versions explained, v23 – May 18th, 2020):

"1. Make sure your Multi/Inverter/Quattro is compatible. All VE.Bus products, including Phoenix Inverters and Compacts, can be updated to xxxx2xx firmware. Only hardware with a new microprocessor, firmware version starts with 26xxxxx or 27xxxxx instead of 19xxxxx or 20xxxxx, can be updated to xxxx4xx firmware.

This Multiplus is a 2702XXX, which indicates the new processor which should be able to update to version 4XX, correct? Or am I still missing something?

Hi @ReliableMarine

No, that's not right. Indeed my own Multi started life on 158 fw, and now runs 474.

What may have happened is you didn't disconnect VE.Bus from the Cerbo when updating. I'd pull all comms cables from the Multi and have it standalone, batteries only. The run VEFlash by the book.
