Node-Red file permissions

I wish to have Node-Red write/append to a text file on a USB stick using the "write file node" so I can review events etc at a later date.

Is this a good idea or is there a better way? There file write permissions as everything belongs to 'root'!

Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Not thought of that. Any suggestions/tips on how to get the database to live on the USB stick?

Was thinking an external db, perhaps on a separate pi where you have control.
