HVAC/Thermostat generic device type

I've been playing around with some basic control/monitoring of a thermostat from Cerbo. I've got the data into MQTT and dbus and was going to turn those into cleverly named generic temp and IO devices so I could see the states in VRM(and control). However it would be easier/cleaner to have a sort of very generic HVAC device with something like: current temp, desired temp, error string, mode string as parameters. Anyone know what are the chances something like that would be added to VRM?
