Phoenix 12/500 Fuses

Hi

My brother has a Phoenix 12/500 inverter. It has 3x35Amp internal non replacable fuses.

1. What Amp fuse must he use on the battery cable with a 105Amp battery?

2. If one of the fuses on the 12/500 blows; is the inverter then dead? (why 3 fuses)

Thanks!

@Finhobbyist

40A fuse is the smallest you can go.

What battery cable size are you using? The fuse is amp rated for that.

Internal fusing is there to prevent fire. Obviously don't want those to blow. Better to have outside protection.

Hi @Alexandra

Thanks. The cable is 16mm.

Do you maybe know why Victron uses 3 fuses, and not just one bigger one?

Maximum cable cross section you will fit in the 12 500 is 10mm². See section 5 of the manual.
