Solar chargers don't work under ESS

Good day,

Two solar chargers Smart MPPT 150/70-Tr and Smart MPPT 250/70-Tr don't charge the batteries under ESS mode. On VRM the system shows this:

I have set the system to not sell any PV excess to grid. However if I set the system to sell the excess, controllers do start to charge and export PV excess to grid:

Moreover, if we disconnect the VE.Direct cable from both controllers to Venus GX, they do charge battery bank but system doesn't run under ESS:

Any clue of what could be wrong on configuration? I need to set the system up properly for ESS and I have compared all parameters with other systems I have installed that seems to run properly on ESS.

In situation from the first image, if you disconnect AC In, does the MPPTs start to provide power?


What else you have in that system?


Maybe put some screenshots with some of the settings.

Can you try this:

In situation from the first image, if you disconnect AC In, does the MPPTs start to provide power?

With the VE.Direct cables connected between the MPPTs and Venus GX.

I just changed the firmware version for the Quattros and now is working running on solar:

The firmware version is 433:

The ESS doesn't work with the latest version of the Quattros.

in my case, if I disconect AC MPPT start charge. Do you know, where is problem?

Both charge controllers have been disconnected as you can see they have more than one day since last connection.

It turns out that I didn't realize when I changed the firmware version the ESS assistant was removed. But once I installed it It didn't work. So again this is the behavior now without rhe ESS assistant:

I have updated everything all devices to latest firmware. What is the proper assistant to use?

What batteries do you have? What are the charge settings of the MPPTs(VictronConnect)?

The charging settings in the MPPTs must be fine since they are charging when the VE.Direct cables are disconnected from Venus GX.


Can you post screenshots with the charger settings and ESS settings from Quattros?


Also, disable "Has DC system" from Venus GX settings.

What is the charging current set there (if enabled)?
