What are MPPT Trackers?

This maybe a dumb question but I when I create a custom widget in VRM I see multiple attributes for Tracker 1, Tracker 2 etc etc. What's a Tracker?

Those apply to RS series MPPTs, which have 2 or 4 "MPPTs"/trackers inside.
