Periodic Test Run conditions

Periodic Test Run.

MultiPlus 24/3000/70-16, solar charger, diesel generator.

Using the CCGX we set this to start the generator once a week and to run for three hours. Our thinking is that this will exercise the generator if it has not needed to start for battery charging. We have also set starting conditions for the generator (eg battery volts < 24.6, excessive load etc).

Am I right in thinking that the Periodic Test Run respects these other conditions for starting the generator ie it will not start when the Periodic Test Run says it should if the starting conditions are not met?

What is the thinking behind creating the Periodic Test Run feature?

If the system is sized so that the generator runs less often, having a periodic start has its own battery charge up for one.

You can see if the system is working as it needs to. Engines that sit for some time can fall into a state of disrepair and when needed there are issues. I can think of many good reasons to have a periodic start.
