Orion tr smart 12/24 low output voltage

I have 12V lead battery and regular alternator on my boat. I installed Orion TR smart 12/24 to charge my LiFePo4 24V/50Ah battery, The problem is that output voltage is around 20V while it se to be 28,2V. I have tried charger mode and power supply, but the result is the same. Obviously my 24V battery is not charging as voltage is too low.

On my 12/24 Orion smart charger this happened when I tried to exceed the current rating for the charger. I had it configured in power supply mode to power a 24 volt fridge.

Could also be the 12V battery can't handle the current.

Hello. The same problem, but at low temperatures. Orion is located outside and at 0 degrees the source produces 20V. 26V set. If you warm it with a hair dryer to 10 degrees, then it goes to 26V. In summer, autumn and spring it works fine, but in winter at temperatures below 0, everything is bad.

Does the built-in temperature sensor work? How to fix it? The operating temperature is declared from -20 degrees!

Hi @Drim this issue is now fixed in a beta version of VictronConnect:

https://www.victronenergy.com/live/victronconnect:beta#v590beta8

Please also check output voltage of the units, some output a little bit too high, mainly these production dates:

The problem is limited to these products/serial numbers:
- Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-10A (240W) Isolated DC-DC charger (ORI122424120) à HQ2128 ... HQ2234
- Orion-Tr Smart 24/24-12A (280W) Isolated DC-DC charger (ORI242428120) à HQ2128 ... HQ2304
- Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-15A (360W) Isolated DC-DC charger (ORI122436120) à HQ2117 ... HQ2219
- Orion-Tr Smart 24/24-17A (400W) Isolated DC-DC charger (ORI242440120) à HQ2124 ... no production yet after the fix

of course we'll change out the product if this is a problem for you.

I am having similar results with my Victron 12/24-15A connected to batter. The Voltage starts out at 24V but very quickly drops to 20V where it stays. I am using in power supply mode and have not been able to 360W output the unit is said to deliver. incoming voltage to unit remains stable at 14. 5 V

Any thoughts on how to address this?

I’m having the exact same issue. My Orion doesn’t fall into he serial numbers listed above.

Reken-Patel,

Can I ask what you are trying to charge?

I’m trying to charge an ecoflow detla 2 and am wondering if the internal mppt in the ecoflow is causing the issue.

Weirdly for me, I can sometime get the full 360watts (28V) out of the Orion. But if I stop charging briefly, I then only get the 20V out of the Orion.
