Can the SmartSolar controllers be damaged by leaving them turned off using the Victron connect settings? The user manual and app semm to be pretty adamant that the off setting is for "maintenance only". I 'd like to turn off the charging output from my 100/20 controller when connected to shorepower for long periods of time.
No , the controller will not be damaged by turning it off.
And would taking out the fuse be a good solution as well?
Just did so as i didn't want to leave a newly installed system operational for a week without supervision. I saw the same maintenance mode message, and thought it would be better to take out the fuse. I did see that the solarcharger kept operation with the fuse remove (although not charging ofcourse), as long as there's sun on the panels.
