I am wanting to use a Hyundai 6000SELR generator as a back up of grid has anyone used this unit would you recommend?
I know it can be start controlled by the various relays (multiplus, MPPT ccgx etc)
But does the generator need the automatic transfer switch option or do e just use the generators electric start stop triggered by a relay. Any advice gladly recieved. Giles.
Does it have an electronic display for voltage/load etc with start and stop buttons or only a knob .
I had the exactly same model which came with only a KNOB forcing me to fit a generator controller which will take a single wire input .
The entire wiring change took may be 2-3 hours and around 100 euro . The main issue is the starter signal is directly routed through the key switch which has to be changed
if there is an ATS socket you can buy an ATS switch which also adds remote start capability

I don't have specific information about that Hyundai model. Typically no, you do not require the Automatic transfer switch option, but depending on how you want the unit to operate, you may like this also.
I do have a lot of collected information about how the Victron system is able to start generators. It would be a very good idea to read it all and understand it OR even better to hire someone with specific experience and history of success in your area.
You might also want to take this to your generator supplier and ask them if they know about its requirements for a 2 wire autostart operation.

The Hyundai with the ats plug and a ats module inside the genny will auto start offa two wire connection have connected and used lots on my off grid installs.
Have experience of adding a genny controller and loads of controls depending what I need to do on the install
