Mixing up AC from Battery AND AC from Grid

Hello Victron Entusiasts,

I run a victron Quattro 24/5000 system with OPZS Batterys succesfull since about 9 Years. Now the

OPZS Batterys are on the end of the Lifetime and i switched now to the following System.

4*MPPT 150, 2*MPPT250, Quattro 48/10000 , Venus GX, 5-14 Pylontec Batterys US 3000C.

All is running well.... The Quattro is programmed to 8000 W, if i exceed this power, the quattro switches back to the Grid.

In this new configuration this is a Problem, because the main fuse goes of over 5500 Watt's.

Now my Question

Is there any way that, if i consume 10 000 Watt's the quattro delivers 8000 Watts, and than the Quattro adds the lacking 2000 Watts from the Grid ?

I don't think it's possible to do it exactly as you say, but it is possible to limit the grid input and have Quattro make up the difference. Set to whatever you want, 2000W or 5500W, etc. (In Amps). Loads have priority over charge, so if loads are higher than the grid limit then it wouldn't charge batteries.

Might this do, or do you have some other constraints as well?

I have two Quattro 48/5000 in parallel. ESS is activated and the ACin current is limited to 20A in the Quattro settings. My system behaves as you wish. As soon as the load is greater than the inverters can supply from the batteries (8500W for me), the rest is drawn from the mains. Of course, this only works as long as the SoC is not too low.

So my system can deliver max. approx. 13000W (8500W + 4500W at 230V).

if you setup ESS on the gx unit the you can limit the quattro inverter power- this should do the job from your description
