Smart Solar 100/20 Load Negative not required?

On a boat, is it OK to connect a fridge to the Load +ve terminal of the MPPT only? (The fridge's -ve lead would go direct to the battery via its existing -ve wiring).

These units switch on the high side, so your load will still switch on or off without a negative return to the load terminal.
