Connecting 2 x 120v power to 240v Multiplus 2

We have an American boat with split phase 110v / 220v. The genset is 110v / 220v.

The new European 240 volt Multiplus 11 only has 3 AC-IN terminals.

From boat's AC panel can we have 2 x 120v "hot" wires going to Multiplus L and N? And PE (Ground) back to AC panel?

There would be no 4th wire "neutral."

Multiplus 11 is for 220v appliances only.

Thanks.

Yes, you can connect it this way, but you would not then be able to operate on a single 120V supply - you could use an auto transformer for this. Also more importantly the output would NOT provide a 'neutral' or center tap for 120V loads without an additional auto transformer. When operating on shore power the MP2 'neutral will be the anti-phase 120V (L2). This may cause problems wiht any ground/neutral switching when transfering from inverter to shore power, so an isolating transformer should be used on the input.

Mike, Do you Know if it's possible to export energy to AC grid?

If we consider:
Multiplus II - 48/3000 230V ( european model )
US split phase: L1: 120V, L2 120V

The output dons't matters because I will use only 240V equipment.

Hello Mike,

Thanks for answering.

1. We have purchased an Auto Transformer specifically for the kitchen 120v/240v sub-panel circuits to run from the inverter instead of genset. eg. Dishwasher, stove, fridge etc.

2. The boat has 2 isolation transformers and is completely isolated from shore power.

We just wished to be sure that from AC sub panel Hot L1 goes to L, Ground to PE and Hot L2 goes to N and that the Multiplus does not internally join N and PE. (None of the 240v circuits use N or are connected to N bus bar.)

Do we connect Multiplus chassis to the boat's bonding system? Any comments?

Cheers.
