Charge controller Battery disconnected, but PV modules still have power

If a Victron MPPT charge controller is disconnected from the battery by a relay, but the PV modules are still supplying power! Can this lead to a defect in the MPPT charge controller?

(the battery side is disconnected while the PV side is still supplying power).

Could you use the remote port of the mppt to disable charging?

No that is working correctly, the mppt can be powered up from either side. And used as a power supply for some loads without a battery.
