BYD Batteries turn off after 5 minutes working

Hello,

We have connected BYD batteries as explained at Victron BYD Example System Diagram.

We use the following setup:

  • Pro 2.5-10.0 battery box with 2 Lithium Ion Battery Cells
  • Color Control GX
  • BlueSolar Charge Controller MPPT 150 | 35
  • Quattro 48/5000/70

When we restart the batteries, they run some errors:

  • Run BMU led blinking once every time.
  • Battery module SOC led scrolling side to side.

Battery voltage is 52.9 V while on (we have measured at both MPPT and Inverter terminals), but after 5 minutes they turn off and voltage drops to zero. Consequently, the inverter also turns off.

We have replaced all communication cables by new ones. Also, we checked both bateries are in different ADDR but the problem persists.

How could we solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Did you use the official Victron type A CANbus cable?

Please post some photos of the batteries, connections and confirm you have set the CAN settings to 500kbits on the CCGX.

Also: while this is unlikely to be your problem, and presuming this is offgrid, you have not got the minimum number of cells.

Hi Guy,

Indeed, the problem has seemed to be the type of cable we have used, which was type B.

We replaced it and now it works properly.

Thank you very much!
