Do i Need a BMV for lithium batteries that have a BMS?

Good Day,

Im migrating from old AGM batteries to lithium batteries that have a BMS compatible with Victron. Do i Still need the BMV?

It depends on how accurate you believe the BMS SOC calculation is. If the new batteries are cheap drop in types then there have been variable reports about their accuracy, especially over early cycles and personally I would leave the BMV in situ as a cross check at least until you saw how they performed.

Short answer is no, you want them to manage the system, that is the best way and how most manufacturers want it.

Few BMS's are perfect, but unless you have issues and need to revert to old school charging and SOC calculation, remove the BMV.
