Multiplus 12/1600/70 Efficiency

Hi guys,

i have a Multiplus 12/1600/70. When running the Inverter with a AC load of 975W, it needs DC Power of 1242W from Battery. That`s only around 78% efficiency. The Temperature in the room was around 20°C.

That sounds very bad, is that low efficiency normal?

@aderksen are you measuring that 1242w with a multimeter or getting it from the multi plus figures on a gx device. - those numbers could be best regarded as a estimate of the real figure they are a calculated number based on some assumptions.

I found my new Multiplus 12/1600/70 while charging the 230Ah LFP battery with 50Amp hot, especially in transformer area after 30min.

Voltage, current and power measured at AC side matched with the estimation form Multiplus and it was about 840W

Voltage and current measured at DC side was close to the estimation from Multiplus and it was around 660W

More or less I found the efficency close to 80% and the heat out from Multiplus looks like 150-200W and definiteliy not 60W for claimed 93% efficiency.

After 1 hour, I set the charging current to 70Amp and the charging current was derated at 55Amp.

My concern is how hot this inverter becomes at 50Amp charging current in a half of hour. Having 18C in my hobby room, 60C at the back in transfomer area is normal?

Thank you.
