Will my 12v system work while batteries are out for warranty replacement?

  • Multi Plus 3000 attached to shore power
  • Batteries will be gone for a month, warranty replacement
  • Also have solar and two MPPT 100/50, BMV-712 and Lynx

Half my batteries are dead but all are being replaced under warranty. Will my 12v system work with the batteries removed? If not, I can't live on my boat. It's my home.

No. The MP requires connection to a DC source to function.


Since you're on shore power, it seems you don't need either inverter or solar function.


When faced with the possibility of being homeless, I would look for other solutions rather than see the absence of 12V as the thing that makes me homeless.


Suggestions:

  1. Since you're on shore power, bypass the MP and power directly with shore power.
  2. Since you're on shore power, you're not moving. If you have a 12V starter battery, use it to power the inverter.
  3. Purchase a small inexpensive 12V simply to power the inverter.
