VRM Portal change in displayed information

Hi all,

somewhen the VRM portal changed obviously its behaviour. I have some of these kind of installations:

And also some of theses:

Happens “only” in installations without Batteries. (Multiplus II).

Any ideas?

Thanks
Christian

@dabbelju
What version is on the GXs being used?

And i assume you mean system without a victron inverter, not a victron without a battery. Because that would be bad.

It happens on all Installations where we just have an Inverter, Gridmeter and no battery.

Inverter is a Kaco NX, Cerbo GX (several Venus OS Versions) and Grid Meter.

To get one installation where we can start and to be precise in setup we take this one

  • Kaco (blueplanet 8.0NX3 M2) Inverter is communicating via Venus OS native TCP Modbus (Sunspec) integration.
  • Cerbo GX is at latest FW (3.55 currently)
  • Gridmeter is EM540 also native integration in Venus OS

And BTW: If I take a look to the remote console (Either classic or new UI) it is displayed correctly.

And I did see some entries in the VRM Portal Changelog VRM Portal Changelog [Victron Energy] which may have to do with our problems. But I can not find any further information about it. I am talking about entries like:

Dashboard: Display PV inverter cards per instance when using dashboard layout for installations with energy meters and without certain

Dashboard: Add new layout for installations with energy meters and without certain devices

Update:

This seems to be an issue with certain FW Versions. What I did figure out with our installations that it works from 3.53 and following (maybe earlier versions also) and it does not work with 3.31.

If a certain FW version is on the GX device it looks like this:

Two urgent requests/wishes:

  • A corresponding note in the VRM Portal release notes would have been very helpful and would have saved us, as installers, a lot of time and hassle with customers.

  • A more detailed description of the changes in VRM in the release notes would also be great!

Moved to modifications section as this clearly is not a standard Victron install.

Why it is not a standrad installation? I am just using VENUS OS standard. No customized scripts.

@dabbelju
You are correct.
Older firmware on the GX doesn’t not display correctly on the VRM. Particularly those before v3.4

I assumed you had tried the firmware update as first poet of troubleshooting.

A standard Victron system has a Victron MultiPlus and a battery.

Good morning,

@lxonline

we have 200+ installations out there. And if something stops working without any changes on GX side my first step is not to update the FW. As usual we try to find out what the problem is.

Of course, a firmware update is a proven method and is necessary to enable new features. This is why a note in the VRM release notes would have been very useful.

@M_Lange
Thanks for the clarification.

I’m not entirely sure why it’s considered a modification, since no modification was actually performed in this case.

Aside from that, it’s difficult to deal with customers when functionality is suddenly lost or simply no longer works as usual.
