PV Inverter tile in VRM disappeared

Hi all,

in one of our Installation the PV Inverter tile suddenly disappeared on the VRM looks like this

The setup is:

  • EM24 Gridmeter connected to Cerbo GX (native)
  • Kaco blueplanet Inverter connected to Cerbo GX (native)

Actions taken:
Upgrade Venus OS to 3.60 (latest)

But nothing change.

So is started looking arround.

In the VRM Device List the Inverter is shown correctly

Remote Console V1:

Here the Inverter is not shown.

In the device list the Inverter is there.

Remote Console V2:

Here the Inverter is shown, but without the sum of the individual phases.

In the device list the Inverter is shown.

DBUS:

In Dbus the Device looks like always.

Has anyone ever seen this?

Thanks
Christian

Moving to modifications.
Third party inverters using grid meters is not a tested or supported config, and as per the docs can behave in unexpected ways, especially after updates.
The consoles and GUI’s are built around a Victron inverter being in place, and unfortunately, something that works today may not work tomorrow.
If the GX is modded, there have been numerous issues with mods not working properly on the latest releases, requiring mod updates or removal to restore functionality.

@nickdb Thanks for your feedback.

Maybe I didn’t express myself very clearly. I know that it is from Victrons point of view is not a standard Installation because there is no VE Bus device such as Multiplus.

But why this is considered a “modded” system is not entirely clear to me.

The setup is:

  • Gird Meter is a EM24 connected to the Cerbo GX via USB. It is (as usual) automatically deteced by the VenusOS.
  • Thrid Party PV Inverter is communicating to the Cerbo GX via TCP Modbus Venus OS standard way (Sunspec).
  • The Inverter is not connected to the grid meter.

If we’re talking about modified systems, in the sense of running custom scripts to create devices and feed them with data, I completely understand that this isn’t supported. It might work, but it doesn’t have to.

The GX device is indeed modded because we install an OpenVPN client on our systems to capture data and monitor the devices. But I don’t see how this modification has anything to do with the VRM.

If there is any chance that someone takes a look: The link to the installation is here.

Thanks
