My 6x 0 PINs aren’t working for my devices (Victron Smart Shunt 500A, Blue Smart IP22 charger, SmartSolar MPPT100/30, Orion-Tr Smart DCDC 12/12-30). I cannot gain access to the PUK codes as the devices are mounted & not able to be removed… I am wanting to reset the PINs to default. Any suggestions or help would be great!
Newer devices have an individual PIN and there should have been a spare sticker in the box with PIN and PUK.
If you can’t/dont want to remove the devices you have to contact you seller with the serial number and they can ask Victron about the PUK.
I have purchased the camper 2nd hand & the previous owner doesn’t have the details, sadly. I’m not sure what year the devices are, the camper is a 2021 so I assume <3 years old.
Pity the person who installed didn’t document important stuff. The stickers are the way. In your case the hard way. Would a small mirror tool or something similar help? Snake inspection camera?
The other way will work for the devices with ve direct. So probably no for the ip22.
Get a ve direct to bluetooth dongle and plug it in you will have to move it from device to device.
Or a ve direct to usb adaptor.
All methods require physical access.
Were the names customised? If not the serial numbers and year are in the name.
To contact the original Victron dealer go to the Victron support page, link below, scroll down to where you see “Get in touch” and “Enter serial number”
I have the same problem. App has worked flawlessly until an update. I purchased the BMV 712 new from Amazon in early 2021. My shunt does not have a PUK code sticker on it. It does have a serial number sticker on it though. Any suggestions and thanks in advance.
See the link in the answer above.
Or buy a ve direct to Bluetooth dongle and use that instead.
PUK sticker on the BMV-712 may well be on the display unit rather than the shunt.
Ours arrived from BMS in the UK without any stickers. So no PUK code or BT password.
Been chasing BMS for weeks without any call back and just brush off emails via ebay.
Is there any way to contact Victron support directly and recover/reset password? Serial number is visible on the Victron app, so I got that.
Thanks in advance!
You can try the Victron support website and enter your serial number and raise an issue but that could just go back to BMS Technologies. One good thing about ebay is the ease of returns, I suggest you raise a case on ebay and note you have already contacted the seller who has not sorted you out.
To help anyone who else whose had issues with setting up a Victron MPPT controller - Victrons instructions are wrong. They incorrectly state the passcode is 000000, whereas the correct pin is located in the packaged labelled “Package Labels”.
And stuck on a label on the side of the MPPT and orion.
Where does it still say that 000000 is the default PIN?
It should always say to look at the unit for the individual PIN. All documents should be be updated that way.
They use individual PINs for a few years now.
In the instructions that come with the device. You should probably have read them.
Can you make a picture/screenshot?
What device do you have?
Im not going to go through the hassle of doing that, especially after messing about for 30 minutes trying to connect to the device and especially as Ive had issues in the past which Victron refused to help with, using the classic “Contact your installer”, if I got a response at all. Someone at Victron should make the effort to check their shipping instructions for errors.
I have a Smart MPPT 150/45 and a Smart MPPT 100/20. The instructions are incorrect for both devices.
I would like to help but I need to know where the problem is.
I will not be in the office for the next 4 weeks, so I can’t check that myself with a unit from our warehouse.
I can’t find 000000 mentioned in the manual available online.
It’s the little quick-start printed manual that’s still included with some of these. Fortunately most consumers ignore those and use the online instructions after scanning the support QR code, but it does occasionally cause confusion still.
This is from an HQ25, so still current production model/packaging.
Thank you for the photo.
The instructions in the Android-app tell to use ´0000´ (4 times zero) or ‘1234’ if you don´t have a PIN. This instruction was unclear because I did not yet know that a PIN was necessary, and (apparently) not true. I did not have a PIN so I tried the ´0000’ option 2 times, and also the ‘1234’ option. This triggered the request for a PUK code (that I thought I also thought I did not have).
I have a (new) MPPT 100/50. The PUK-request came after I had built-in the device so I could not easily read it. There was no extra sticker in the box with a PIN/PUK/Serialnr. In the end I decided to dismantle the setup to find the PUK. After rebuilding the setup and starting the App, the App asked for a PIN (not a PUK) and I entered ‘000000’ (6 times a zero) and I was able to enter the MPPT.
I downloaded the VictronConnect App from the PlayStore on January 1st, version 6.24.
I understand the PIN & PUK codes are an important safety feature but the whole procedure needs a thorough review, especially with new Victron users in mind I would say. The extra sticker - maybe even 2 pcs - is a very good idea to inform second-hand buyers as this type of equipment if often built-in in difficult-to-access spaces. And a page in the manual where the user can note down his own PIN.
