Raspberry pi out of USB ports and questions

Well I’m using a raspberry pi 2+ as I had it.

So far I can’t seem to get all of my 4 mppt’s, smart batt meter, wifi, bluetooth adapter’s.

I’ve tried 2 USB hubs with no luck. Is there a preferred hub, should I try a USB hat or the duppa device. Think I’ve lost a USB port on the device its self. Which doesnt help.

I’ve also got a android devices as a display.

However when trailer is off wifi it becomes useless is there a way I can get the raspberry pi to make it’s own wifi network?

I’ve also got a few more mppt’s that will get used there just set up for ground deploy units.

You should start looking at something like this. Isolated 4 port USB to UART FTDI – DuPPa

I am not sure what you are using to connect, but once you fill the PI’s ports with non-isolated devices, the risk gets higher.

I have had some connected with a powered USB hub, but when you get past the 4 ports on the RPI you are better off just getting a GX device.

Did not try to use a usb hub. Perhaps it should powerd and not only passiv

Needs to be powered, I used one of These on my RPi powered from a 12v>usb adapter

Worked fine

However it states its for the 3 or newer sevices.

Ill try a powered hub though

I think i have this model, with a pi zero.

Works without any problem.
