Using MultiPlus for a PV off-grid system

Hello, I’ve set up VE Configure on my laptop and would now like to configure the MultiPlus via the MK3-USB interface so that it doesn’t charge the battery (as it is charged via PV), but switches to shore power as soon as the battery capacity is too low. Is it sufficient to untick “enable Charger”?

In an off-grid system, there is no shore power, and consequently the MP cannot charge either.

P.S.: If we don’t use the same terminology, we’ll end up talking at cross-purposes.

hello,
that’s enough.

you can also use the relay assistant to switch AC-IN on and off depending on the voltage.

bye

I suspect I mean something else?
The MP should not, as configured by default, switch to the battery as backup power when the mains/grid power fails and then recharge it afterwards, but rather the other way around. The PV modules charge the battery, which then supplies the appliances (washing machine) via a separate circuit. Nothing is fed into the grid! However, if the battery becomes too weak, it should be topped up using mains power. The customer service team at Verkauf Bochum told me that this can be configured via the MK3 USB and configure.
I hope this is clearer now. Thanks

Great, many thanks!
I think the relay assistant is beyond my abilities! :worried:
Best regards

You presumably mean island mode (the MP creates its own grid at its AC-Out).
In this case, the MP can only be powered from the batteries or from the PV power currently being generated. Everything connected to AC-In is then dead. Only MPPTs connected to DC, or PV inverters connected to AC-Out, will still work. And you don’t need to configure anything extra for that; it happens automatically.

At the very least, the PV Inverter Assistant should be programmed into the MultiPlus when AC PV inverters are connected to the AC Out.

hello,
apart from the option of controlling the system via a GX device and Node-RED, this is the only way to switch the mains on when the battery is too weak!

the only other option would be a powerful charger set to the battery’s minimum voltage and running in parallel all the time to prevent undervoltage. that’s what i do with my 24V system because the battery no longer delivers its full capacity, and initially because it didn’t always last through the night.

you could misuse the generator control for this… specify min. SOC and max. SOC… the Multi doesn’t check whether it really is a generator and switches according to the SOC values, or disconnects the grid accordingly … I think this gives you a very simple way of controlling the amount of power drawn from the grid
if you don’t want the grid connected to the Multi, use a relay or contactor, depending on the size of the Multi, via the GX relay contacts — just as you would switch a generator on and off
