Multiplus II firmware update

Hello Everybody again,

my system consists of 2 Multiplus II 48/5000 in master and slave configuration. Both inverters are still on the original firmware v496. I would like to update to v556 but am a bit intimidated by the official process outline. In case something goes very wrong, there is hardly any VE support where I live (Somerset West/Western Cape/South Africa). The update process in general via VRM is fairly straight forward. However, will the update process be applied automatically to both Multiplus II, master and slave? Or do I have to flash the new firmware to the slave inverter manually? If yes how would I do this?

Another question is should I actually attempt this complex and potentially troublesome firmware update or should I leave both devices on v496?

Thanks in advance if somebody could send me some enlightenment on this.

Unless there is a specific reason or need to update the general advice is don’t update multiplus firmware.

If you update multiplus firmware you will have to restore settings from a backup or reconfigure them.

There quite literally is a specialist almost on your doorstep. Avoid the risk of tackling something not intended for an inexperienced user, and just pay someone to do it for you. If you are just updating for update sake, leave it as is.

Ok many thanks. Will stay put with the firmware I have. Good to know that there is a VE installer/expert nearby.
