Very happy with VRM.
When I started, the graph in the dashboard (like SoC) was updated every so many minutes.
Some months ago, the updating of the graph stopped.
So, I see a graph, when I start VRM dashboard, but the x-axis is not updated anymore.
The x-axis tics are e.g. every half hour, but when I start the VRM app at 14.05h the x-axis is up to 14:00h, but when I wait till 14.33h the x-axis is not updated (anymore) and still shows 14:00h as the last value (see picture).
The datapoint (yellow dot) on the Y-axis is still updated with a correct value (but this datapoint is not connected with a line to the graph).
All other details of the dashboar are okay and updated constantly.
I looked for a setting in VRM to update the graph autmatically or manually, but couldn’t find it.
This behaviour is the same in the android app and webinterface.
R.L. Will try it now.
But your answer suggest that all other timeframes other then “today” will not be updated automatically?
That seems counter intuitive and I’m almost sure that all other timeframesettings, like last hour, last 3 hours, et cetera, have worked in the past in my VRM.
So, although I will use your suggestion, but if it works or not, that solves not my problem.
@sunflower Maybe delete the widget and then reinstall. Also check for any devices linked to it that may no longer be active. Maybe the device from where it obtains the data has changed? Does the data come from a BMS or the system?
Have tried time frame setting “today”, but it fails.
Athough the x-axis is showing all hours of “today”, the line of the graph stops at the point in time I selected this “today” time frame.
The last datapoint is shown (in yellow) and with a correct value, but is just a “point in space” and is not connected to the line of the graph.
This datapoint (as also shown in the screenshot before) is plotted at the incorrect time, not “current time” but at the time when i started the dashboard “today”.
Below another screenshot where the problem is seen.
The screenshot is taken at 22:50, but the graph is drawn till 18h.
Watch the yellow dot below the blue line, that is the current SoC value, that dot/value is updated constantly.
@sunflower Are all the firmwares and Apps up to date? Worth cleaning out any caches and what happens if you set the battery monitor to the BMS? I had and instance a day ago where one of my RS 450 200 MPPT trackers did not display the voltage while the other three did show both V and A. Also, consider deleting the devices in VRM so they can be rediscovered.
@sunflower I looked at it a bit closer and have to point out the graph you are looking at is historical. It represents the average of blocks of 15 min when looking at the 1hr view and for a 24hr view this is shown on the hour. It does not update in realtime. The realtime setting applies to the system overview. Works as intended having had a closer look. When I either select a different reporting period, it shows the last 15 min correctly or when I refresh my browser. At least this is my understanding of it, but I must admit I never paid particular attention to it as I prefer the detailed views where I can drill down to a minute as and when required.
This graph used to update by itself every couple minutes. This has changed somewhere around the time the new design got the auto-retracting left menus.
@Ektus I was not aware, but have located other similar posts worth reading. For me personally it is/was not an issue and a refresh suffices as I never actually keep the screens open and when switching between customer installations refreshes it when I open a new installation. I personally find the live console of more use to see exactly what is happening in realtime.
@sunflower I know you said you have the same thing on the “Android app”, but can you eliminate a possible cause, just in case. Try a different browser, so if you are using Chrome, use Edge or Firefox or Safari or whatever, and confirm you have the same experience.
@ejrossouw thanks for your post, but I’m almost sure that all graphs, no matter what which timeframe you select, hour, 3 hours, day, 24 hours, et cetera, were updated every minutes or so.
This behaviour caught my eye (as a programmer and tester) the first time I used VRM. The graphs were drawn again and again every minutes (or so). And I thought, well this is luxe!
And this has worked till some months ago, and then it stops.
Because I didn’t update the GX firmware, I’m almost sure that is has nothing to do with the GX version. My feeling is that Victron has updated the VRM portal behaviour.
@Biff I’m almost sure that this flaw has no relation ship to a webbrowser engine version, I have tested on firefox (gecko), libre office (gecko) Opera (chromium), firefox in Android, and the VRM app under Android (and I suppose that this uses the build in chromium engine) . All respond the same.
@sunflower I suspect you are right, but realtime updates would be resource intensive so it makes sense to not have them in realtime especially since it reflects blocks of 15min averages. I can live with it as is and personally think it was an unintended and ultimately unsustainable luxury when comparing it with other manufacturer portals.
More thoughts on this. Could it be that the data from your GX is not arriving with a valid timestamp, so VRM dumps it all as “the present”. Check your GX via console, Settings>General>Date & Time.
