ESS / Ekrano Update 3.75: System stuck in bypass mode after AC in power off/on

Hi,iIt seems that after updating to Venus OS 3.75, my Ekrano is triggering the exact error that the changelog claims to have fixed.
After disconnecting and reconnecting the AC input power, the system draws power from the grid despite the battery being full and there being sufficient sunlight. This error did not occur with firmware 3.72. Unfortunately, rolling back to 3.72 did not resolve the issue.

The fix in question is: • Fix VE.Bus ESS systems sometimes remaining in bypass when combined with an external transfer switch (S99 firmware).

However, I am not using a transfer switch.

Then its not the exact error. Potentially related. Maybe.

If a roll back didn’t sort it something else has got its wires crossed.

So the trigger event. Maybe check what device is set to meter grid.
What else is in your system? Usually pass through is meter related or bms related.

  • Battery/BMS is Pylontech US5000

  • Energy Meter is Victron VM-3P75CT, connected using CAN

The error occurred after the update to version 3.75 and is therefore linked to the aforementioned fix, as the described error behavior matches mine exactly.

Communication betwenn Erkano/BMS/Energy meter looks fine, all data is shown in the Ekrano.

    Nothing has changed except firmware.

It’s s odd the ac in disconnected in a gx update.

Is your inverter also pretty close to the latest?

There is no connection in terms of content between the firmware update and the deactivation of the power supply.
System is sometimes used in offgrid mode. The grid is therefore manually connected or disconnected as required.

Multipluses are running on 558

Ok. So did you physically disconnect from grid using a breaker or do you have other modifications?

Breaker

The checklist.
Does a VE bus restart vhange anything?
Initiating another breaker connect and disconnect doesn’t change things? And or reboot of the Ekrano. (If you haven’t retried that)

If not - tag bug report in your post tags

Ekrano already restarted. Disconnect/Reconnect also already done.

How can I do a VE bus restart? Do I need to power cycle all devices?

Probably just the inverters.

You can redetect it using the GX

For GUIv1:
Devices > Multiplus > Advanced > Restart VE.Bus system

Ok, but this will cut output power, right?

It shouldn’t but some systems it does.

I have used it quite a few times rather than switch off the inverters. I have only had one system where the power went out but it returned a second or so later.

It tends to restart the Multi’s, so power output will be cut for a moment, yes.

Unrelated:
I’m waiting for Victron to release a software feature that closes the AC relays from AC In to AC Out while keeping the DC part of the Multi completely powered off.
This would mean a user-selectable bypass mode while the rest of the Multi restarts.

Problem resolved.
“Somebody” not knowing what he/she is doing turned the transfer switch without telling me.
Aaaaahhhhhh!

Ha ha. Glad it was something simple though.
