Cerbo GX with GX 70 touch screen issues

Since I had upgraded my system, my touch screen when navigating through the settings the back arrow will not got back to previous screen, I have to disconnect the cable from the Cerbo GX to reset the screen. Could it be a bad touch screen.

I saw some odd issues with my Cerbo GX and Touch 50 when I powered them up out of order.

Try rebooting the Cerbo GX while keeping the Touch 70 powered up.

I have been rebooting the GX touch 70 every time after I go to the device page or settings, It’s been in service for 2 1/2 years so I’m getting in touch with the vendor I purchased it from to submit a warranty claim.

Sounds like a good plan. You’ve done your due diligence.

My screen is also not responding to touch in the upper left or right corners. I have to use the remote console on Victron Connect or VRM to reach the generator screen from the main screen. This has only been an issue since installing firmware v3.50

The touch function seems to have failed on my GX 70 as well. It will not turn on or respond to touch except when I enable Remote Console on my laptop.
If I touch the screen on remote console it is mirrored on GX 70. All changes are also mirrored. The display is live because it shows current moving and changes in solar production.
With the touch function inoperative the display is useless. It can’t be turned on or respond to any requests. I have rebooted Cerbo and display with no success. Cerbo is running 3.42 as suggested by my installer.
This display is about 9 months old on a 3 year old install. Second display failure.
Any suggestions other than replace again?

Using HDMI extension cable

Check the setting that disables touch

I could not find that setting

When I reboot the touch function does work

Research is pointing towards the HDMI extension as possibly being the failure point. In a motorhome install the display would be worthless without an HDMI extension cable. Mine extension is probably about 5 meters long.

Hi @Ron , ah that explains this better.

Indeed, many hdmi extension cables cause issues for touch.

The GX Touch + Cerbo HDMI is not designed with extension in mind. Would have been nice if it was, but it’s not how it is.

Some extension cables do work. The simpler the cable is, the better; so called “active cables” will most likely break the touch. Most likely here on Community there are people saying what extension cables do work.
