GX 70 unresponsive

2022 install and dealer updated all firmware Sept 6, 2024. I have had a problem with GX 70 not turning on at times for several months. Unplugged and reset would sometimes work for a minute and sometimes for hours before going blank again.
After firmware updates it stayed on for a few hours, but was blank and unresponsive last night. Only 3 of 6 Ruuvi’s were visible yesterday. This morning all Ruuvi’s were visible and the display was on and warm. It had probably been on for a while without me touching it. Numbers were changing, but unresponsive to touching to make changes.
Seeing as firmware is up to date, is it time to change out Cerbo or GX 70 display?

Does it respond to remote access via the LAN? If so, then the fault is with the touch screen.

Always works on iPad and iPhone. I use remote console to accomplish want I need. Much better if touch pad worked. I’ll see if dealer will replace on Monday. System 2.5 years old. Thanks

Solution was to replace Cerbo. Everything works now

June 2025 and replacement display has the same problem again

I returned GX 70 display to installer. It worked perfectly plugged into their Cerbo for two weeks. When I received it back from my installer I plugged it into Cerbo for two weeks and it worked there as well.
This install is in a motorhome so the supplied 6 foot is not practical to have a display inside of the motorhome. Same situation would apply in larger boats as well. Therefore an HDMI extension cable is necessary to have display function as a remote display. If an extension cable can not be used, Cerbo should say, “must be installed not further than 6 feet from Cerbo”.
Reading the forum makes me believe that some have found HDMI extensions that do work. Victron could do the right thing by supplying an assortment of different length extension to their installers and DYI people to make this often occurring problem go away.
So far Victron has replaced the Cerbo and the GX 70 under warranty, yet it seems like the bad link is the installed HDMI cable. The problem can be temporarily fixed by removing power from Cerbo and touch screen, but the failure of the touch function soon returns to the point where the display will not turn on.
It should not be left up to the customer to find an acceptable cable that works long term in what is considered to be a common installation for a remote touch screen. It appears that this is my course of action to try and make GX 70 work as it was intended to when installed.
I will state again that it is not the display tha fails first, it is the touch function.

Yes

Extending the HDMI cable is not officially supported so you wont get a list of cables from Victron.

How do you power your screen (USB)?

If it’s the touch function that’s failing, this is down to the USB extension, not the HDMI extension (I think).
However, as stated above, extensions are not officially supported. As the data cables connected to the cerbo can be quite long - up to and over 10m, it should be possible to plan the installation such that the display and cerbo are close to where the display is required. Other than that, use the remote console over the LAN.

Separate power lead from house batteries through 5 amp fuse

I am on shore power at float voltage. MPPT raises to 14.40 when sun comes up and then returns to float later. Any chance the higher voltage could affect the touch function? I am going to turn off solar to experiment. I believe it it the necessary HDMI extension that failing me.
