Hi everyone, I’m Andrea from Brixen-IT and I am new in the community!
I just installed my off-grid Victron system for my hut, composed by an EasySolar-II GX 48-3000, a VE.Bus BMS NG and a Victron Lithium 51.2v-100Ah NG LiFePo4 Battery.
Basically everything is working, but I have some issues and some questions that I coud not solve:
In the Victron VRM Portal and the remote console, the SoC of the battery is not visible (while V, I and temp yes).
I saw that in the remote console, in the menu “device list”, there are only 2 devices listed:
-MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32
-SmartSolar Charger MPPT 250/70
In system setup, the mattery monitor is setted in automatic and the auto selected device is the Multiplus-II 48/3000/35-32 on VE.Bus.
With Victron Connect I can see all the devices on Bluetooth or Ethernet, also is the VE.Bus BMS NG showing all the battery data including SoC.
The BMS is connected via the MultiPlus/Quattro RJ45 Port on the Ve.Bus port of the Easysolar-II with an ethernet patch cable, VE.Bus Status LED on BMS is blinking blue each 10-15sec approx.
What could be the problem, that I cannot see the SoC in the VRM Portal and on the remote console?
The SOC often shows “-” if it has not yet been charged to 100% to get the value worked out.
Under battery monitor you have chosen automatic, can you set that to another option, personally I have the Lynx BMS, I do not know if the VE Bus BMS can be used for SOC, if it does it will be better than the Multiplus.
The first day after the installation the SoC in the BMS showed “-”, but now after the first complete recharge it shows correctly the SoC in %.
Unfortunately, under “battery monitor” it’s not possible to choose other devices the the Multiplus-II for this function, maybe this is the problem?
here a screenshot:
Have you gone into the Multiplus settings and enabled the battery monitor in there. For lithiumyou would want to set it so end of bulk was at something like 98%.
No, the programming on the Multiplus itself. See below for options on programming the Multiplus.
For programming the Multiplus use either of the options below, detailed instructions in the links.
A smartphone using the VictronConnect app with a Mk3 USB interface between the phone and the Multiplus.
A PC/laptop using the VE Configure program with a Mk3 USB interface between the PC/laptop and the Multiplus. I am not sure if VictronConnect on a PC/laptop can work like this or not.
A PC/laptop using the VE Configure program through a GX device if you have one connected to the Multiplus and the internet. This is VE Remote Configure.
I am not 100% sure if it synchronises with the BMS or not. But you need to “enable battery monitor”, set bulk ends at say 98%, add your battery capacity and set charge efficiency to 99%.
Just loaded the config and it seems to work! Thank you!
The VE.Config suggests to set up 95% bulk end and 0.95 for charge efficiency, when I use the “Victron Smart Lithium Battery i.c.w. VE.Bus BMS” as battery type in the charger settings, should be ok?
Another question is, if this settings for the shutdown are to be configured on the battery voltage or if this function is already implemented by the VE.Bus BMS that is connected?
Bulk end anything 95 to 98% will be OK, just see if it reaches 100% before going to float, if it does not then increase it.
Charge efficiency really needs to be 99%, that is what all recommendations say apart from the one you see, the NG batteries with Lynx BMS are set to 99% and the battery monitor works fine at that.
