SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 & external battery charger

I have a SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 charge controller. I also want to use a shore power connected battery charger that will charge the batteries when my RV is plugged in.

I need to know which side of the SmartSolar controller the 12V leads from the external charger are connected to: the LOAD side or the BATTERY?

Thanks!

Hi,

connect your MPPT charger and your external charger in parallel to the battery.

Just to be clear the external battery charger should be connected direct to the battery terminals / busbar and not to the mppt controller itself.

Your mppt controller is limited to 20a but you can use a larger external charger which should have its own fuse.
