Is a surge protector needed for shore ac to 24/3000?

If so, is it ok to go with a 50am even if I will mostly plug into 15amp shore?

(We will have 200ah lithium @24v and 1600w solar)

Yes, you can use a 50 Amp surge protector. That rating is the maximum rating, so any ammount of current below this level will be fine.

They run about $200-300. From what I can tell the multi 24/3000 will handle a low voltage (brown out) by switching over.

If I install a breaker box on the input and ran a 60 amp breaker, that should cover ground, open neutral faults as well as over voltage.

Or am I missing something?

What about under voltage! Under voltage causes the most problems! Buy the EMS!
