Solar panel broken due to wiring setup?

I've installed a solar panel on the deck of our boat. Due to limited space for wiring, I combined the negative cable between solar panel and Victron 12V MPPT with the negative cable of our 12V Speedlog.

Unfortunately the high quality Sunbeam solar panel broke down after approx a year. After replacing the panel, the 2nd panel also broke down.

Therefore I'm now doubting if the wiring setup is the reason. Anyone here who could explain if and why the wiring layout could be the problem?

See below an example of my setup, where the light bulb is in reality a speed log.

The two negatives on the MPPT are joined on the board - so the way you are doing that would work, and should not affect the panel in any way
