I’m trying to understand my unit, installed 4 years ago by someone else who is not available for questions.
TIA,
Scott
The relay can be set to operate on a multitude of conditions such as battery voltage, battery SOC and it can then be used to control a load if the SOC or voltage falls too low, or start a charger or generator for example. If you have a temperature sensor attached then it can be used to trigger the relay, for example starting heating mats on a lithium battery when cold.
See the manual Section on the relay, the rest of the manual is useful too.
Thanks for your help, now I understand. I don’t have any of the extra functions a relay might be needed for, such as a generator, battery heater, etc., so I plan to can disregard. Might set up an alarm or two, perhaps low voltage for my starter battery, thoughts on trigger voltage?
I’m replacing my house batteries (AGM’s) tomorrow and from the “Quick Install Guide”, it looks like I’ll only need to set the battery capacity after the install and reset the history in the app. Any other things to do or be aware of?
Thanks again for your help.
Scott
I have not set alarms directly on a BMV before, for a low starter voltage you would want something like 12.5V to show it was less than full but still full enough to start. However, during starting the voltage can drop as low as 10V so ideally your alarms needs a delay timer so it does not alarm every time you start the engine.
If it works OK and synchronises OK on a full charge then there is nothing else you need to do.
Thanks!
