Customer complains about this. Is there a way to get the ‘To Battery’ value in VRM (solar) closer to the real / actual value when charging from AC?
I do wonder if this could be related to the SmartShunt’s battery charge efficiency setting. Which I myself did not install/configure, but someone else did that. I guess that I will need to verify those settings also (no, is Ok).
The value in their MID certified kWh meter is, of course, a bit higher due to losses. Still it would be nice if they could be the same or get closer. Ehm no. Personally I never really looked into this so any ideas are welcome.
What I did was to verify what they said, and they are right. The values are not the same. I’m not saying that this is misleading. Neither is the customer, but it is confusing, also. The online documentation about the VRM dashboard is pretty much limited, ignoring parts, and could be improved @guystewart
Edit: update. I installed two MID certified meters on my test setup, and I can confirm this to be true. I can reproduce this oddity with AC charging. The value ‘Direct use’ (solar) is too high. Guess what. Exactly what ‘To battery’ is missing. Clearly a calculation error of some sort.
This way it looks like that you are using more solar (direct use) than you actually do. It also shows some pretty heavy losses. Customer asked me if this is why it is lying. Well. Who knows
