VRM Event Log missing events

In the past the Event Log seemed to capture lots of events but now only seems to capture when the Remote Console is accessed plus a couple of others.
It no longer captures firmware updates to the Cerbo or devices. And possibly others I haven’t used or noticed.
Am I missing a setting somewhere?
Cheers.

Ho Phil and welcome to the community!

Can i ask are you on the latest beta software?

In my events i can see firmware updates on beta v3.50~43.

Has your logging interval changed? Mine below…

Not sure if this would effect the event log?, is the logging of graphs ect all ok with no gaps

If not i could be a bug.

Yes just updated to ~43 but nothing in log. Nothing for the last dozen or so updates.
All VRM settings identical to yours. I’ll try changing the log interval to see if it makes a difference (but don’t see why).

Hi @Dunnp,

The VRM event log is only able to see events that are triggered on VRM itself.

So updating the GX device firmware on the device will not log the update.

It requires updating via the remote firmware update menu on VRM.

We are (painfully) aware of these limitations, and I hope that over time we can continue to add detail to the VRM event log, but for now that is the way it is.

Thanks for confirming this Guy. I had that ‘lightbulb moment’ last night.

I normally do firmware updates from Remote Console (for GX) and VictronConnect for other devices (much quicker) - so VRM would have no visibility of them. What tricked me was going through VRM to Remote Console - thinking VRM could ‘see’ what was happening. Obviously not. And perfectly understandable.

Perhaps a few words in the VRM doco to point out that ‘only events within VRM are logged’ would remove any misunderstanding.

Thanks again Guy.
Cheers

You’re right, the limitations should be better documented. I’ll do that.
