Could you show a screenshot of the VRM and the EVCS settings?
Is communication between the GX device and the EVCS working, though?
In other words, are the system’s current values shown in the EVCS web interface?
Is the PV inverter being read and displayed by the Victron system?
A negative reading from the grid sensor alone isn’t enough; the EVCS needs to know the PV output.
The PV inverter is not visible in the Victron system.
Communication between the GX device and the EVCS seems to be working. At least the change I make in the settings under “CerboGX->Devices->EVCS” is received by the EVCS.
Unfortunately not; the PV output has to be known to the system.
Either the PV inverter must be readable directly via Modbus/Sunspec, or, if that isn’t possible, it must be measured using a separate meter, such as an ET340 or EM540.
Thanks for the quick reply. But I’m still a little confused .
Shouldn’t it already know the surplus from the Victron VM-3P75CT EnergyMeter? That’s the actual surplus currently being fed into the grid (if there is any surplus).
If I connect another Energy Meter to the PV line, the CerboGX will get the current PV output, but not the surplus.
The wallbox needs to know how much PV power is available, so this needs to be measured separately.
The negative value from the grid sensor alone isn’t enough.
Can you explain why this PV output figure is needed? What additional information about power available to be sent to the EVCS does it give that isn’t given by the grid meter?
After all , the EVCS balances the grid feed to zero, rather than matching a figure from the PV inverter.
No, I’m not the developer, I can’t explain it even further, I just know that it is like that.
My guess is that the auto mode is based on the available PV energy, not the grid feed-in, because the auto mode can also start charging if there is no grid feed-in because the battery isn’t at 100% or because it is an off-grid system.
The statistics on VRM and the remote console overview are also better if the system knows the PV power.
The EVCS will automatically start charging when the vehicle is connected and the following conditions are met:
The current state of charge is above the 'Start charging at backup battery SoC (%) value.
There is enough excess solar power available, with excess solar power calculated as follows:
Excess solar power = Total PV production - AC loads (without car consumption) = 1380W (230V x 6A)
In the example above, the Min. charge current (from 6A) value has been set to 6A. The required excess solar power increases accordingly if a higher value is set for the Min. charge current (from 6A). Please see the chapter VictronConnect setup, configuration and operation for details on both parameters.
Or, if there is not enough excess solar power available to meet the minimum charge current requirement as per 2., it is possible to enable the ‘Allow low excess solar power for auto mode’ option. This option supplements the required power with additional power from the grid to meet the minimum current requirement. See chapter VictronConnect setup, configuration and operation for details.
I can answer - what if your system is feeding just because the energy price is high and it is confgured to do that in this case? we need to know where the energy is coming from to make sure it is from PV.
