It appears that both the old Smart and new NG series have the cells directly connected to the output posts.
No internal fuse or LVD functions? Seemed surprising compared to other designs I have seen. (I know they need an external BMS to control charge and discharge)
Curious if anyone has opened these batteries up and can confirm this? thanks
There is nothing to protect the cells against over voltage, under voltage or short circuit.
That’s why a correct installation is extremely important. All charging sources and all loads need to be controlled by the BMS.
Nothing can be connected directly to the battery.
