Hi - Just wondering if the “Superuser” category still exists in the Venus system, or whether installer now has the same privileges? There does not seem to be the right arrow on the display to hold for 3 secs to select superuser…
I wonder if it’s not possible to use gui1 for activating it and then switch back to gui2…
As of Venus 3.52, GUI 1 no longer works…
Sorry - it does, but you get gui-V2 by default…
Sad…
One more reason to stay with the old version(s) if all works.
I just switch to it in node red. Can you can change the level back again too from there after doing things that you want done.
OK, so I booted this new Cerbo back into the ‘old’ firmware to get superuser and see if VRM remote console was enabled. After sorting out issues with moving the VRM site to the new Cerbo (Deleted the old site and restarted with the new Cerbo), I switched back to the new firmware. Superuser mode still set, now also had indication for enable SSH on LAn, but not for enable / disable remote console on VRM. (also going to try to move this to Beta testing.)
Besides the User, Installer and Superuser access levels, is the Service access level doing the same things on the new firmware?
I did not see the ‘service’ access level option on either screen…
Also, just tried to change access level to user, but I’m getting incorrect password. I reset the root password, but still getting this error.
It would be good to have different passwords for each user group - this apparently exists, but having a page to enter the different passwords is missing. Also, Root/Superuser, Installer and user passwords should be accepted for setting user level to ‘user’.
OK, so the Default password of ZZZ is required (how does one change this?). Now setting level to superuser has gone. So has enable SSH on LAN. However, although the settings have gone from the menu, the SSH access is still working.
OK, so you CAN get back to superuser with the new GUI, using the same method as for the old gui.
However, in ‘dark mode’ (Default){also in light mode} the highlight of the Access level does not show when the General page is first selected.
select the settings>general page DO NOT click on the ‘Access level’ tab.
Hold the right arrow button on your keyboard down for 3-5 seconds. This does not work on the touch screen, only on a remote console…
You then get switched to Superuser, and the SSH settings come back…
It would be nice to have a blue outline round the currently selected tab.
From the scripts of the old gui, Service mode is selected by entering the “Access level” page, then with the keyboard select the first option (User) then press five times Up Arrow button and then press five times Down Arrow button. Now the access level should be Service.
Happy Christmas to you Alex. Learn something new…
Still works, though you have to use the mouse to select the ‘User’ option, then ignore the enter password, just press up arrow x5 then down arrow x5. Service appears, and you can also toggle between service and superuser. However, service cannot be permanently selected, when you return to the previous page, service reverts to superuser.
This happens even if you revert to User access level first, it returns to User after selecting Service.
Keyboard up and down arrows do not move the selection. I think they should.
Happy Christmas to you too!
Maybe something changed… Don’t know, as I didn’t installed (yet) the new version(s).
The service mode has some interesting features, one of them being able to browse the entire dbus and see it’s values, all from the comfort of the remote console.
I tend to use ssh and dbus-spy for that…
Mee too, but imagine someone which doesn’t have the knowledge and ability to do that… It will be an easy tool for debugging purposes.
