Hi, I’m finding on both the the official and beta release when using the new UI that my touch 50 screen freezes with the data at that time frozen in time, i am unable to do anything with the screen and have to either remove the cerbo fuse or enter via VRM remote console and perform a reboot. This doesn’t effect the old UI which works perfectly.
To add, this only happens once the screen has gone to sleep, and usually within 1 to 3 hours.
Did you see this? might be related.
Randomly frozen GX Touch Display on Cerbo GX - Q&A and troubleshooting - Victron Community
Hi, yes I saw this after I posted as it brought it up as a related topic. Thanks ![]()
After the (remote) upgrade the GX touch gives a blank screen, a physical reboot lager of the system did not resolve the issue. Reboot into v3.55 brought back the screen.
Hey @Phil168 , thanks for posting here.
As discussed elsewhere: we’ve spent a lot of time trying to reproduce this, to no avail.
But, do have something in mind that might fix this - which will take a while to implement (multiple weeks minimum). Once done, I’ll reach out to you.
Hopefully you can then still reliably reproduce the issue in a few hours.
Thanks and all the best, Matthijs
Great, I will look forward to hearing from you hopefully once a fix is available
Regards Phil
hey @bhcreasy does it load properly, and then freeze after a while? Or do you have an issue loading it?
Hi @bhcreasy ok noted.
We expect to have a version that might fix this in a few weeks.
The change will be a newer version of the underlying graphics library.
Looking forward to that, I’d like to access the new UI reliably
Hey @bhcreasy and @Phil168 and others,
We’ve made the changes that we wanted to make in the latest Venus OS beta version, v3.70~19.
Can you test it again? Would be great if the New UI now loads reliable for you as well.
Note that we still haven’t been able to reproduce the issue on our end. What we’ve changed per mentioned version is that we’ve updated all the underlying software, in this case the Qt libraries, to the latest available and stable-considered version.
Looking forward to your results, Matthijs
Just updating now, I will keep you posted on the results.
Phil
Thank you. On the Cerbo, I checked firmware and it shows 3.63, and when checking for an update, it stated there is no update available.
If you want to try a beta release, in the firmware online updates page you have to change the update feed to “beta release” instead of “official release”.
Hugh, I had to change from the official release to the beta release in the options from the screen where you check / perform updates.
Yeah, I figured. Now I see the title shows it’s Beta. I’m at sea mid ocean right now, so I’m not risking a Beta install u til we reach land again in a few days.
Totally understood. Enjoy the passage
So after updating to 3- 7 -19 @ around 16:00 yesterday, everything seemed to be ok, screen timed out numerous times and once reactivated was still working as it should, however when I checked this morning it had frozen again, the time showing on the screen 00:42.
Edited, tried again, re booted around 13:00 and this time the screen froze at 23:24 so the issue is still there however it is taking a little longer to happen since this update?
Updated with the beta 3.70 and screen still freezes after screen sleep function kicks in
Hi both, thanks for your feedback.
And that its not resolved is a pity.
Is it ok if we login remotely to your systems see more log files?
We won’t change or do anything else.
Yes, fine with me.
