Unpair IP43 Without Phone

Is it possible to “unpair” a Smart IP43 without the phone that it’s paired to? Unfortunately, the phone “went for a swim” in 20 feet of saltwater. I have tried resetting the PIN with another phone, but it appears that the charger is still seeing the original pairing.
Any suggestions at all?
Thanks so much in advance.

I constantly switch between three phones, never needed to “unpair” .

Are you sure the charger isn’t paired to the basic phone bt system?

Thank you Ludo.
I feel fairly certain that there charger “thinks” it’s paired to the original phone BT. However, that phone is dead after its recent swimming incident. There’s nothing actually paired to it. I’ve tried resetting the PIN with 2 different phones. But that’s yielded no results. I’d like to be able to adjust the incoming power while we’re cruising to help manage generator time. But haven’t been able to access thus far.

Hi @01parrothead01

There is no need to unpair the old phone as the PSC can hold pairing information for multiple phones. You say that you did reset the PIN code using 2 different phones. After the PIN is reset (using the PUK) you should be able to pair using “000000” as PIN using any phone. If this does not work, can you add a bit more information on what is happening?

Good morning Thiemo,

Thank you very much for such a quick reply early on a Monday morning. We are currently cruising in the Exumas and I guess I lost track of days. I was wondering why I hadn’t heard from someone at Victron. But when I saw your note this morning, I realized that it been the weekend.

As I mentioned in my original post, I killed my Galaxy S23. So I’ve been using an old Galaxy S8+. I reset the PIN with the S8 with no luck. Then I reset the PIN with my wife’s S23+ with no luck. After I received your email this morning, I tried to pair the S8 again using 000000 and four the following message “Couldn’t pair with IP43 . . . Make sure that it’s ready to pair” See attached photo. Thus us the danger message I was getting over the weekend after I reset the PIN each time. So then I reset the PIN a third time this morning from the S8. I got a message the the PIN code was reset. See attached photo. This is the same message that I got both times this weekend.

I tried several times to pair the S8, and each time the pairing attempt would “hang up” between 0% and 20%. I would exit and start again. The fourth pairing request worked!! And now it seems to be working. I really don’t know what changed or made the difference, but it now sends to be working. It reminds me of the comical definition of insanity - trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result. The funny thing is, the third attempt worked.

Thank you so much for your response.

Warn regards,
Jim

Sometimes just a power cycle helps clear the brain on the device.

As an FYI

But for the most part you will get an answer from someone helpful here.

Hi @01parrothead01

Good to hear that it eventually worked. I also have no idea what might have been the problem on the earlier pairing requests.

When you do get a new phone, you should be able to pair using the currently set pincode without the need to unpair a previous phone because multiple phones can be paired. There is however only 1 phone(/tablet) that can be connected at any time.
