I recently changed to a newer phone. Only one of ten Victron devices will connect to the new phone. They were all setup with the same PIN at the same time but I can’t get into them now. They show in the device list but won’t accept the PIN. I’ve even tried connecting with my old phone and resetting the pin. It just won’t accept it.
How do I fix this or reset everything and start over?
Got it. Had to reset everything multiple times to get in and clear all the BT pairings brought over by Samsung from the old phone. How annoying, first issue I’ve ever had with Victron products!
Its not the fault of the Victron components, but rather due to the action of replacing one phone with another thru a clone or transfer.
Bluetooth pairings do not automatically transfer when switching phones, and you will need to re-pair your devices as you did on the new phone.
This is due to each phone having a unique Bluetooth MAC address, and the pairings are stored as hardware handshakes, which are not transferred during new phone update process.
Same goes for any App that logs into a secure service such as VPN. This prevents illegal phone cloning from accessing secure information or services (like security, automation, or surveillance system remote access).
The whole process was not intuitive and wasted over an hour. It was the Victron stuff that eventually accepted the code when I powered everything down for 10 minutes and brought it back up. Clearing the pairings was the first thing I did. I just don’t get why 1 device went fine and the others didn’t.
