Two MPPTs, one LynxShunt and a MultiPlus II GX

Hello everyone!
I am planning an off-grid system for a vacation home. Since it will employ two different types of panels, I need to use to use two relatively small in size MPPTs (see this answer One MPPT for two different panels? , thank you @LX ). Since they are small, they use Ve.DIrect. I would also add a lynx shunt to handle the 24v battery pack plus a battery balancer. As an inverter I was thinking of the 3000 VA Multiplus II GX (or the SmartSolar Multiplis II). However, I see that the connections to the inverter’s built-in GX are limited. Is it possible to handle everything with the MultiPlus II GX? If not, is it advisable/possible to combine a Cerbo GX with the inverter’s GX? Is it better to go for the non-GX version of the inverter and match a Cerbo? Thank you very much already from now for your help.

You can connect a usb hub (active) to the gx, then connect the ve.direct devices over ve.direct usb converters.

It always comes down to budget. But it does allow easier expansion if you have a separate GX.

Otherwise there are usb to ve direct cables and the use of a good quality hub as an option.

Thank you for the answer. From what I understand, the MultiPlus GX doesn’t have a Ve.Can prot (just BMS.Can), so the Lynx shunt could not be attached. Am I missing something? Is the Lynx shunt paramount or the battery residual capacity can be measured otherwise?

Why would you take the lynx and not the much cheaper SmartShunt ??

Because I was planning to have a lynx distributor for the two MPPT and the inverter. So I was thinking dor a more clean design (the smart shunt seems to me more like somethinf that does not fit in.

Sorry, for my generation the cost and function plays a larger role then “clean” design.

The lynx is surely the most expensive fuseholder on the market…

We are probably form the same generation. Agree on the cost, not too much on the generalization

Not if you need something for vacation :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

What really amazes me is how little you know me and yet how judgmental you are. I could then try to explain to you how that little house was built by my great-grandparents and has been our hard-working family for generations. How many sacrifices they made to be able to maintain it and therefore how much it means to me. Or just thank you for the help and leave you to your own beliefs. I think it will be the latter.

Sorry, my comment was only regarding our age.

If you misinterpret me its purely on your side.

I’m retired, not eligable for vacation any more

So I guess there was some guessing on my part, too
Anyway I was sincere thankying you: I did non considered the “pure” shunt, before you told me
And yes: Lynx shunt is really overpriced!
