Smart shunt temperature reading

I have and IP43 12v 50A and a Smartshunt, which has worked fine. I am now sailing in a hotter climate so wanted temperature compensation. I bought and fitted a Victron sensor ASS0001000000 for BMV712 and Smartshunt. I fitted this sometime back but got no temperature reading. Yesterday I checked the sensor, it has blue sleeve on terminal and yellow caution label. After wiggling the connection into the Smartshunt it started working and IP43 said receiving voltage, current and temperature from Smartshunt. Today I thought I would check the battery temperature. There is no temperature reading attached is a plot showing temperature suddenly going to 90 degrees, I don’t believe this as the charger is in float mode with very low current into the battery.

Also when you change the auxiliary input from none to temperature why does it wipe out all trend history but leave history of min and max voltages on history page. This seems crazy since firmware upgrades don’t wipe trend data.

2 thoughts,

  1. you still have a loose connection somewhere in your wiring
  2. as the temperature sensor is normally connected to a battery post, is the battery post tight and not creating heat from a loose connection with high resistance.

It is reading voltage fine and terminal is tight. It was the push in cable on the Smartshunt that made it work yesterday. It has a crimped on ferrule so should be a good connection. I will remove it a remake the connection.
