Pylontech US500 not detected by Easysloar 2 GX

Hello all. I replaced my old AGM batteries and I installed a Pylontech US500 battery connected to my easysolar 2 GX. All is connected according to installation instructions.

Unfortunately while checking with the console easysloar 2 GX don’t detect the battery. I changed the setting as mentioned. I selected settings/ services / VE.can port and selected the correct speed 500 Kbit/sec.

The com cable is plugged (Easysolar side) in one of the two VE.Can ports (the terminator is also plugged here - second VE.can port) and in the A/CAN port of the Pylontech battery.

Does anyone knows what’s wrong ?

I must say that the com cable is the one supplied with the battery. On one side is a label (battery) and the other side has (inverter) as label.

Is this the correct cable ? Not sure this is Victron so called cable A.

Also I noticed the somatheing in Victron easysolar user manual misleading me. In a picture in this manual I can see two BMS ports instead of the two VE.can ports on my device.

There is no other port I can use for my battery BMS com. Am i missing a BMS port ?

Any clue ?

Thank you for any help.

Is the Communicationcable the original “unusable black” Edition from the Pylontechs OR
the "blue Victron Typ A Cable … wich you must order seperatly ?

You are not missing a CAN port.
In first revisions the port was named VE.Can but, as said in the manual:

The BMS-Can connection allows connecting of compatible 500 kbps CAN-bus BMS batteries.
VE.Can products as for example Victron MPPT Solar Chargers, or a Lynx Shunt VE.Can are NOT supported.

Marking the port as VE.Can could confuse users that may think that the port is a true VE.Can port
Therefore in the later revisions the port is clearly marked as BMS.Can to make things clear.

As for the cable, you must have the following cable.

@tronegeden

dont use can terminators on both sides,
only on the gx side (correction!)

Did you read the full instructions on setting up pylontechs with a gx?

Right cable is also in there…

https://www.victronenergy.com/live/battery_compatibility:pylontech_phantom

That depends on the Pylontech dip-switch (2) configuration setting…

Youre right but the dipswitch should not be used unless you have an pylontech LV hub

One can use no terminator and it will work, but that only because of the length of the cable and the length of the bit time for that CAN speed that converge to a small reflection wave.

I’m afraid the cable I used is the problem. Put simply it’s the Pylontech supplied bklack cable.

We call it “the Useless” black UTP Cable

So make yourself a cable with the pinout indicated on post 3 or buy one.

As written seconds back the pb is the cable. I used Pylontech supplied cable which is not the one expected

Who are we ?

I have corrected myself, terminator should only be used on gx side

The people who ordered Pylontech batteries and didn’t have a blue cable …

Unless I’m wrong I plugged the terminator on Victron side. I let the DIP switch as default - all 0’s.

Yes and the people who did not read the manaul :grimacing:

Yes thats correct!

That’s my plan for tomorrow. I’ve got UPT cable

:expressionless: … Yes … :expressionless: We all grow with our tasks

Anyway thank’s guy for your advice/help
