Multiplus II GX with Pylontech US5000 connection problem

Hi,

I’m setting up my first system with:

  • Victron Multiplus II 5000 GX
  • 2 US5000 Pylontech batteries

I’m using a Victron VE.CAN to BMS CAN cable (type A) to connect them. As recommended in the manual, I’ve changed the VE.CAN port profile to CAN-bus BMS (500 kbit/s). However, the system isn’t recognizing the batteries as connected device.

I tried using a tester to check if the cable is working properly, but no LED lights came on. Could this indicate a defective cable?

Thanks in advance.

If your tester is ok, and nothing lights then yes looks like a defective cable…

Or the Battery of the Tester is empty …
Tryed with a normal RJ45 Cable ?

:grinning: Sure, I’ve tested it with regular LAN cable. It works properly
Going to refund cable then

or you can quickly build your own to test …

The cable turned out to be fine; the issue was with my cheap tester, which doesn’t work with this specific pin configuration. The real problem, however, was selecting VE.Can & CAN-bus BMS (250 kbps) instead of CAN-bus BMS LV (500 kbps). Switching to the BMS LV option resolved the issue.

I tought you already set it up like that in your first post?

I had actually expected this to be the first troubleshooting step. Perhaps the cable was one without a shield … then the simple measuring devices lack the reference wire for measuring …
‘as is so often the case, the fault lies between the ears’
But it’s nice that it works

Hello! I have the same problem, that there is no connection between the multiplus and the batterys. Can you elaborate a bit more how to change these settings? That would be great! Thanks in advance!

Direct connection between Pylontech and Multi Plus didnt work … This is a Multi with GX …
Do you have a Multi Plus 2 with or without GX Device ?
What else have you configured and connected in your System ?

(I have the GX) i found the settings, and problem is also solved
