BYD BMU don't shows on CCGX

Hi all,

I hope you can help me with my problem:
I have the following off grid setup:
1x MultiPlus 48/5000/70-100
1x SmartSolar Charger MPPT 150/100
1x colorcontrol GX (CCGX)

I used to have a BYD B-Box Pro 13.8. Because this model got worse and older, I replaced it with a BYD B-Box Premium LVL 15.4.

Before, my installation worked without any problems. After replacing this battery, my battery monitor is no longer visible on the VRM portal. The BYD BMU also gives the error code “Communication with an inverter failed.”

So there is no SOC visible on the CCGX and it is therefore not possible to charge/discharge the battery in this way

I contacted the service partner of byd and they forwarded me to the following page:
https://docs.eft-systems.de/download/DOC-00053&_lang=en

I followed all the steps on this page under heading 2.4. I am sure that everything is correct except for the inverter settings.

Now it is not clear to me, do I have to adjust the settings of the inverter for a different battery? and how do I do that?

I hope there is someone who can help me with this.

Thanks in advance!

Did you configure the BMU with the BeConnect App?

yes, I did indeed use this app.
I have attached a screenshot of this app of the settings of this installation.

I have also gone through the site you added completely but I cannot find the problem there either.

I think the problem is with the cable, but that is very strange since I just ordered the cable new.
I have tested the cable and added a video of it. Could this be the problem?

Cable is defective.
The CAN-L signal is missing.
It’s a Victron original cable ?

yes it’s a Victron original cable.
I bought it brand new 1 week ago

Interesting.
All experts here preach the usage of original Victron cables instead of DIY cables…

You can make one yourself after the documentation here: VE.Can to CAN-bus BMS cables manual [Victron Energy]
You need type A, from what I remember…

Is the port speed on the CCGX correct?
The cable doesn’t test correctly. (Port speed wont help with that). You need a new cable as Alex linked. Or return your pre made one.

what shoud the port speed be and how do i change those settings?
I will indeed replace the cable and hope that will solve the problem.

In the manual link in M_Lange s answer it is shown as 500.
The setting is found under
Settings - services - can port -

apparently this was the solution. bizarre how such a small setting can yield so much and how you can so easily read over it in the manual.
apparently the cable was good all that time.
in the meantime it works like a charm again.
thanks for the help.

Indeed hair pulling - so too can a network cable tester be wrong… I threw mine out the other day.
(After making apparently 4 cables that tested bad. But in the system they all work) - so i have spare type a now

If the tester is good, then the cable is NOT good.
But CAN being a differential bus, even with one wire at constant potential (or disconnected), the bus driver is able to translate the signal and serve you the correct information.
