Phoenix Multiplus 3000 24 Firmware upgrade

Hi, I’m using an older Multiplus as UPS and I’m also in the process of realising an ESS system using the new Multiplus II. For the latter I’m using a Cerbo GX II controller.

I did also intend to couple the older Phoenix Multiplus to the Cerbo GX and here I did loose track. On initial coupling Cerbo indicated a firmware update was required followed by a 1342 error. The VRM portal recognized the Multiplus and responded with MK3 update (BTW I did not init any of these updates). Meanwhile the Cerbo was updated from factory installed version 2.9.1 to 3.66. From that moment the Multiplus disappeared from the overview from both Cerbo as VRM overview.

I do not have a MK2 or MK3 VE.bus dongle and I hoped to be able to couple and upgrade the Multiplus using the Cerbo. My question is upgrade this way possible? Firmware version of the Multiplus is 1912115 (The Microchip uP is tagged with 1912115.HEX so I assume this is the version programmed) HW tag is CB 08-01-0000.

From the document VE.Bus firmware versions explained I did get the impression update to a higher version should be possible.

My question: is upgrade possible using the Cerbo or not? I did not revert the Cerbo to the older version to check the behavior but at this stage it is still an option for me.

Thanks in advance!

Paul

That old MultiPlus can’t be updated via VRM, you need to use VEflash.

The highest FW you can install there is 209 and that does have limited functionality compared to the last FW on a newer device.

Matthias, thank you. So I do need an MK2 or MK3 USB dongle to be able to upgrade the firmware using VEFlash. There is no VE-direct IF on this unit and I do think Victron does not supply the HEX files for upgrading via a Pickit.

Limited functionality is not really an issue, it would be nice to be able to monitor the unit.
