Orion strange behaviour

Our Orion smart dc-dc won’t start charging.

I have 14v at the starter battery terminals and 14 v at the input terminals but the app says it’s reading only 12! I’ve done a factory reset. It works in psu mode but I cannot get it to start charging the 12v house battery.

The smart shunt we also have reads 13.5v.

Is the Orion dead? Why won’t it read the correct input voltage?

Welcome aboard! Can you post a picture or sketch of your wiring?

What is the shunt attached to/what is it measuring, as it could measure both batteries if you use the AUX connection.

e.g. House Battery [-] negative — SmartShunt — Negative bus bar — Orion negative

House Battery [+] — Smart Shunt [+]

Starter Battery [+] — Smart Shunt Aux

Starter Battery [+] — Orion — House battery [+]

The red flag for me is SmartShunt seeing 13.5V and yet measured 14V or 12V.

Is there a Cerbo GX in this system?

I’ll have to design it. The voltage reading from
The Orion externally matches the shunt which is on the same circuit
The external voltage reading is made from the input screws of the Orion via a volt meter.
I can make no sense of it. It’s as if the device is stuck reading 12 historically.

Is there a remote jumper?

Yes it’s attached to a relay I can’t reach that closes the circuit with the ignition on. It’s a hangover from an older victron dc dc charger
I suspect it’s a fault although in the space I have I can’t reach it for the moment.
