Orion XS showing less input voltage than actual voltage

Hello. Recently installed an Orion XS DC to DC non isolated charger. Ran a 4AWG wire from the CCP of a Transit Van to the charger at the back hoping to set voltage as the parameter to start / stop charging. Now, althought a multimeter reads more than 13 volts at the wire, when connected to the Orion it says that it is receiving 0.3v so it shuts down. Please advise.

What voltage do you measure with the input connected to the Orion

Between orion input + and orion negative
Between orion negative and vehicle ground/body

I suspect that the Orions negative is connected to the secondary batteries negative, but not also to the vehicle ground/body.

Also question of my own, ive soon got to install an Orion XS in a Transit Custom myself, i looked trough the customization handbook or whatever its called, but i havent seen any location descriptions, just connect to CCP, but no explanation on where that is to be found. Do you mind sending me a picture of where that connection point is?

Thanks for your prompt response. That could be it. Full size Transit’s have a Customer Connection Point located on the rear left side of the driver’s seat. Since mine is a 2018 year model 350 it only has one connection point but I believe newer models have three. Mine produces 60 amps of continuous power with an integrated fuse. When it has the 3 connection points, one of them is ignition regulated (only works when the vehicle is on). There is a kit for older models to add the two more points it doesn’t have. Since mine is continuous, I was hoping I can set the Orion to start charging at a certain voltage since the voltage at this connection point changes if the vehicle is running or not. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info :+1:

Yes, in the Orion settings thats done trough the engine running detection settings.
