Troubles with Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-15A (S/N: HQ2501*****

Hi,

I have a Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-15A (S/N: HQ2501*****) installed in my campervan. The system worked perfectly for months until recently.

My setup:

2Γ— LiFePO4 12V/200Ah batteries in series (24V house bank)

Orion input connected to 12V starter battery (conventional alternator, not smart)

Orion output connected to the 24V house bank

What happened:

The Orion stopped charging. I checked the wiring and found the positive output cable had come loose from the house battery. I reconnected it with the engine off. Since then, the input voltage oscillates constantly between 11V and 14V while driving, causing the Orion to switch on and off repeatedly and never charge properly.

Important facts:

Before the loose terminal, everything worked perfectly

House batteries are at 95% SOC

The starter battery terminals are tight and in good condition

No sparks when reconnecting

When I disconnect the Orion input cables completely, the oscillation disappears β€” voltage stays stable at the starter battery

Current settings (engine shutdown detection):

Start voltage: 13.80V

Delayed start voltage: 13.70V

Shutdown voltage: 13.50V

Any idea what could have caused this after simply reconnecting the output terminal?

Thank you

This does not sound correct. If you disconnect the input cables, then there should not be any input voltage anymore on the Orion. Since where would it come from?

Is the Orion an isolated or non-isolated model?

It is not an isolated Orion.

Product: orion Smart 12/24v not insolated A3D01

Number of serie: HQ2501*****

When I start the vehicle, When I turn on the vehicle, the input voltage fluctuates from 14v to 12v, which causes the batteries to charge and then automatically discharge.

The only thing that happened was:

1. The positive cable leading to the secondary battery was disconnected.1. The positive cable that goes to the charging (secondary) battery was disconnected and reconnected.

2.Update the app software.

Thanks Thank you for your quick response; I need this help because I’m traveling!

Just as a note, please do not post full serial numbers here on Community; this is a public forum and is routinely and massively scraped by bots and AI agents, for unknown purposes. The HQ and first 4 numbers of the serial are plenty! I have edited all instances of the posted full serial from the convo.
